How much do precast concrete elements cost? What makes up the price
There is no honest answer to the question “how much does a precast wall cost per metre” without a design. This article explains what the price is made of — so that the quote you receive is easy to understand and the enquiry you send is complete.
What really makes up the price of an element
The price of a precast element is the sum of four components of very different weight:
- Material — concrete and reinforcing steel. The concrete class (from LC12/13 in LECA concrete to C35/45 in floor slabs) and the amount of reinforcement follow from the structural calculations, not from a price list.
- Mould and labour — an element with simple geometry, repeated across many units, is cheaper per unit than a single non-standard element. That is why terraced housing works out better value than a single house with a complicated form.
- Transport — elements travel on low-loader vehicles. What counts is the distance from the factory, the number of loads and whether the dimensions call for an escort vehicle. We deliver across Poland and to European Union countries.
- Installation — the crane and the crew. The cost depends on the number of installation days, and that depends on the number of elements and how the site is organised, not on the building's floor area.
Why comparing prices per m² can be misleading
Two quotes “per metre of wall” can describe entirely different products. A solid wall is a single structural layer — the insulation and facade are completed on site. A sandwich wall arrives with up to 300 mm of insulation and a finished facing layer, so its higher price includes work that, with a solid wall, still lies ahead of you. Compare the cost of the finished wall build-up, not the cost of the element.
